Christmas 2011

Well...It was a very interesting Christmas!! My husband got a speeding ticket and my brother in law got his wallet stolen on Christmas Eve..boo cops and thieves! My sister accidentally dropped my husbands phone after taking a picture of me and my husband. Luckily it didn't crack the screen, but the outside of the phone is pretty beat up. Other than that it was nice being with family and especially having our pup in our lives! We sure did miss Jack though. He seemed to enjoy Christmas more than Tonks. But we were able to get some great pictures of Tonks in front of my parents Christmas Tree.

MIA

My husband and I have been busy packing and moving for the past month. We're finally all moved in to our new home. We'll be living with my mother in law for three months and then off to Austin, TX. I can't wait for this move. I'm a little scared, but very excited as well. I just hope our dogs don't mind the change! Tonks was pretty nervous during our move to my mother in laws home, but I think she's doing good now.

Gus Gus

My friends dog is probably one of the cutest big dogs I have ever seen (besides Tonks..of course)! This is Gus Gus-We think he's a Collie, Airdale mix. Or...Collie, Irish Wolfhound..He's pretty big. He's just a pup and look how huge he is! Unfortunately, my friend Taryn lives all the way in Colorado, so I haven't been able to meet him yet. Hopefully, I'll be able to visit both of them soon! Enjoy...

Leash Locket

I can't wait to try this out! It seems pretty cool. Its a leash that hooks to your dog when not in use. A friend of mine is helping this get launched. They went to The Super Zoo in Vegas (jealous) Its a huge pet supply expo and I guess they did amazing! I need to get one! I think this would be perfect when we go to the dog park! Tonks and Bees

Tonks got stung by a bee..AGAIN! This is her second time getting stung in one month. Thankfully, she's not allergic to bees. We found out the first time. I rushed her to the vet because she started to act very lethargic. Once we got there she was her spunky self again!! The first time she got stung on her foot when we walked through a little group of bees that we didn't notice. This time she got stung in the eye. Her and Maggie thought they found a fun bug to chase and didn't realize it was a bee until it was too late! Tonks got the sting and Maggie got away just in time! Her right eye is a little swollen, but she seems to be in good spirits. A little itchy, but still acting like a puppy!

Tonks is 5 1/2 Months

Tonks is now 5 1/2 months and weighs 45lbs. She has lost most of her puppy teeth and is turning into a beautiful young lady!

Tonks likes: Pulling Maggie's tail, playing with her Pit bull friend Lola, chasing butterflies, cuddling on the couch, and ripping paper to shreds
Tonks dislikes: The hose, the gardener, getting picked on by the dogs at the dog park, when mom and dad go to work.

Tonks is getting so big

So Tonks is about 4 or 5 months..I'm gonna say 4 just because she still has all her puppy teeth! Boy is she getting huge! I'm going to weigh her tomorrow during puppy class. I think she has to be at least 35lbs. she was only 151bs when we got her last month. So far she's learned Sit, Stay, Come (kinda) and shake...we're working on roll over today. Maybe I should start vlogging her progress. We'll see...

Come on people....When you make a right had turn at a light make sure there are no pedestrians! Maggie our little dachshund and myself almost got taken down by a woman in her SUV.  This woman made me so angry...I wish she would have turned into the shopping center where we were headed because I was ready to take HER down after that. Actually it was pretty funny...because I yelled after her while I was walking across the street...she started turning into where we were going and then made a U turn..I'm not sure if its because she knew what she did our she was just really making a U turn, but it made me laugh thinking she was just scared of me.  So anyways...please make sure to pay attention while you drive there could be people with their dogs and/or kids out and about! Thank you!!!

Goodbye Jack Hello Tonks

Well its been over a month now that Jack passed away..I never wrote a post about it cuz it made me too sad to write about. 
Unfortunately we had to take him to the emergency vet the Friday before Easter because the injury he had just took over his body. We ended up having to transfer him to a neurologist and things just got worse from there. We found out it wasn't an injury at all, but a fungal disease he probably picked up at a shelter in Utah. (Where he came from). The vet said fungal diseases can mask themselves as spine injuries and when you give the animal things like pain meds and steroids to cure the injury, it helps the fungal disease take over....The vet did not look optimistic about Jacks well being....he was in a lot of pain those last couple of days we had him so we made the hard decision to let him go peacefully.  It was the first time my husband or myself had to put a dog down. Jack was the first dog we adopted as a couple. He was crazy, fun and a sweetheart and we still miss him terribly....but its nice to know he's not in pain anymore...

......Well my husband and I thought it would be nice to go to the local animal shelters a couple of weeks after Jack died and just look at doggies, a little bit of dog therapy! We weren't planning on getting another dog....we just wanted to look and it actually felt nice seeing all those puppies and knowing we might be able to give one a home one day. Well......we stumbled across a bundle of cuteness and we couldn't control ourselves! We had to have her! She's was a four month old Cathoula Leopard Dog they named her Misty and she was in a kennel all by herself..We went into see her and fell in love.  She had two holds on her so we thought for sure we would never get her...but because she's a wild child both families dropped out of the hold and she was ours! We knew it was fate....who would pass up that adorable face?  So we adopted her and brought her home! She for sure has not taken the place of Jack...she's actually the complete opposite of Jack....She's feisty, does not like to cuddle and doesn't come when called..haha..but she's super cute and VERY smart. Oh and we names her Tonks after the witch in Harry Potter.

Hopefully things will work out with her. I'll keep an update on her progress as a growing puppy..she's already learned sit and shake! Well I think thats all I have to write! I think this is the longest post I've done...hopefully I'll do more!

I'll miss you Jack! You were a fabulous dog!!! You and Tonks would have had so much fun together...

Poor Jack

Jack has a really bad back injury! He's not doing so well right now. The vet told us to wait it out to see if he starts to feel better, but it could be a slipped disc or spine injury....He's on pain medication and steroids which are making his tummy upset. :-(
I hope he starts feeling better. I feel helpless because there's not much we can do except for give him lots of love and help him outside to go to the bathroom....

Miss Maggie Ballerina

Ok...I know! Dressing my dog up? Bad human! But I had to...I asked a coworker if she had any extra harnesses for Maggie. (Its hard to find good harnesses that fit a dachshunds shape)...The next day she brought me a bag full of stuff from a Pet Sample Sale. I thought it would be full of harnesses to choose from....Instead it was a bag of all pink dog clothes..and this was one of the outfits I found! Poor Maggie..I think she's still mad at me...

Jack

Jack is now getting used to getting his picture taken. He used to hate that idea of it. Every time I pull out the camera he would start barking like a mad dog and come after me. We decided to stop using the flash when we took his picture because I think the flash was making him nervous. Now he's a pro dog model! Here are a couple of my favorites....

Rain Rain Go Away

The weather has been so yucky here! We haven't been able to go to the dog park or anything.  I finally got Maggie a cute little rain coat though! She hates it, but it keeps her dry! :-)
